How do I register?

(b) You can register in person at our baseball centre.

We accept payment by cash, cheque and credit card.

How do I choose the right level of baseball for my child?

Divisions are generally based on age. For example, if your child is born in 2006 or 2007, s/he will play Mosquito this year.

Sometimes parents want their child to play in a division different than the one based on their age. That requires permission from the President of RMBA.

Can I ask for my child to be with a specific coach or other player?

RMBA will try to accommodate special requests made at the time of registration, but we are not always able to do so. We have a player draft at Pee Wee and Bantam.

My child is 10 and has never played baseball before. Is it too late to start?

No, it’s not too late! We have new players joining at every level. Our house league program includes players of varying skill levels. We also have player development clinics available in the off-season.

What equipment does RMBA provide?

RMBA provides each player with a team hat and jersey. There are team bats and helmets available.

What will my child need to play baseball?

Players need grey baseball pants, baseball socks in team colours, glove, running shoes and protective cup. Shorts are not allowed.

Some players wear baseball cleats (metal cleats not allowed). Players may also choose to bring their own bats. For sanitary reasons, RMBA encourages players to purchase their own helmets, but it is not required.

Please label all equipment with your child’s name.

When does the season start?

The 2017 season will start with practices the week of May 1, 2017. The schedule will be up on our website generally by April 30, 2017.

When do we find out what team my child is on?

You will receive a call from your team coach usually the week before the season starts.

When will my child receive a uniform?

Your child will receive their team shirt and hat before their first scheduled game.

Could my child’s team change?

Yes. Players can sometimes be moved from one team to another after the season starts to improve the competitive balance of the division or due to late registrations/withdrawals.

What if I have an issue with my child’s coach or other concern?

You should speak to the Convenor assigned to your child’s division. Contact information will be available at the start of the season on the website.

What if it rains or looks like rain?

We want kids to play, so we cancel games and practices only when we have to due to weather or field conditions.

Game and practice cancellations are posted on our website starting in the late afternoon. In questionable weather, keep checking because the cancellation may come late because of changing field conditions or weather forecast. Once a game starts, the decision to stop play is up to the discretion of the umpire. If lightning occurs during the game, the game is cancelled.

Will we make up games that are rained out?

Our house league schedule is longer than most other organizations because we know that rainouts can happen. We still try to make up missed games, but there are no guarantees. Diamonds are available on “off” nights and weekends, and teams can make up games before the playoffs, provided that the affected coaches agree and there are sufficient players available.

Playoff games will be made up, unless the result has no effect on the standings.

What is the Day of Champions?

Playoffs in Rookie, Mosquito, Pee Wee and Bantam determine the top two teams in each division. The championship games are played on the Day of Champions. For the 2017 season, the Day of Champions will take place on August 12, 2017.
Players who are not participating in the championship game are invited to watch the game and attend the Division Awards party after.

T-Ball and Junior Rookie Ball have their awards party at the Baseball Centre on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 6:00 pm.

Are there any special events planned for the 2017 Season?

RMBA hosts special events throughout the year. Check out our website regularly and subscribe to our emails for updates.

Does RMBA have a travel program?

Yes! The Riverside Royals compete at the highest (AAA) level in Ontario. Tryouts are held in the Fall each year. Check out the teams on our website.
