Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I still register for the 2024 Houseleague Season?
Yes! You can register until the season starts OR until the division is full. Last year several divisions were full before the season and players went on a waiting list. Sometimes, we will accept late registrations if there is room.

Q: How can I pay for registration?
You can pay by credit card at the time of online registration.  You can also select "pay offline" and pay by:
- sending an etransfer (contact us for details)
- coming to pay in person by cash or cheque each Saturday beginning March 16, 2024 from 9:00am – 12:00 noon at the Baseball Centre.

We encourage you to complete the registration online before coming in and select “pay offline”. If you are unable to do that, we can help you complete your registration at the centre.

Q: When does the season start?
The 2024 season will start with practices May 6, 2024 (subject to the City of Windsor delaying the opening of diamonds).

Q: When do we find out what team my child is on?
You will receive a call from your team coach usually the week before the season starts.

Q: How do I choose the right level of baseball for my child?

Divisions are based on age.  For example, if your child is born in 2013 or 2014, they will play Mosquito this year.

Sometimes parents want their child to play in a division different than the one based on their age.  That requires permission from the president of RMBA.

Q: Can I ask for my child to be with a specific coach or other players?
RMBA will try to accommodate special requests made at the time of registration, but we are not always able to do so.

Q: My child is 10 and has never played baseball before.  Is it too late to start?
No, it’s not too late!  We have new players joining at every level.  Our Houseleague program includes players of varying skill levels.  We also have player development workouts available for all divisions.

Q: What equipment does RMBA provide?
RMBA provides each player with a team hat and jersey. There are team bats and helmets available.

Q: What will my child need to play baseball?
Players need grey baseball pants, baseball socks in team colours, glove, running shoes and protective cup. Shorts are not allowed.

Some players wear baseball cleats (metal cleats not allowed). Players may also choose to bring their own bats. Players are encouraged to get their own helmets.

Please label all equipment with your child’s name.

Q: When will my child receive a uniform?
Your child will receive their team shirt and hat before their first scheduled game.

Q: Could my child’s team change?
Yes. Players can sometimes be moved from one team to another after the season starts to improve the competitive balance of the division or due to late registrations/withdrawals.

Q: What if I have an issue with my child’s coach?
Please speak to the convenor of the division.

Q: What if it rains or looks like rain?
We want kids to play, so we cancel games and practices only when we have to due to weather or field conditions. The city of Windsor sometimes closes some or all of the diamonds we use in inclement weather.

Game and practice cancellations are posted on our website, Facebook and/or Twitter starting in the late afternoon. In questionable weather, keep checking because the cancellation may come late because of changing field conditions or weather forecast. If lightning occurs during the game, the
game is cancelled.

Q: Will we make up games that are rained out?

Rainouts happen. We try to make up missed games, but there are no guarantees. Diamonds are available on “off” nights and weekends, and teams can make up games before the playoffs, provided that the affected coaches agree and there are sufficient players available.

Playoff games will be made up, unless the result has no effect on the standings.

Q: When does the season end?
TBall runs until July 13. The Day of Champions for other divisions is July 27th.

Q: Does RMBA have a travel program?
Yes!  The Riverside Royals compete at the highest (AAA) level in Ontario.  Tryouts are held in the Fall each year.  Check out the teams on our website.
