RMBA Mission Statement

Mission Statement
The Riverside Royals OBA AAA Rep program strives to develop players into successful athletes and leaders with character and a passion for excellence, both in baseball and in life, by focussing on SIX (6) core principles: Competition, Individual Athlete and Coaches Development, Teamwork, Sportsmanship & Respect, Leadership & Community Involvement and the Pursuit of Excellence; to accomplish this we will strive to provide state of the art baseball practice and playing facilities and the highest level of coaching instruction.

COMPETITION:  RMBA will provide the opportunity for players to compete at the highest level of youth baseball within the Ontario Baseball Community which includes, Elite, Provincial and Canadian Championships.
Competition is the fuel that drives athletes and sports, but “competition” is not a one dimensional concept. Competitive means winning baseball games, but also means giving maximum effort while applying the skills and knowledge taught by the coaches and drilled in practice. Win/Loss records and individual team statistics are the yardstick by which individual and team progress are measured and are critical to the competition experience, but their importance must be balanced with other objectives such as development and respect for the game.

INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT:  RMBA will supply the necessary tools and facilities to develop individual baseball skills and knowledge and enable each player and coach to reach their full potential.
RMBA seeks to develop players physically, technically, mentally and emotionally. We emphasize teaching not only proper mechanics, but the mindset and even balance necessary to success in a game like baseball where patience and perseverance often prevail over passion. No two ballplayers are alike and our coaches tailor their coaching techniques to suit each ballplayer’s natural ability and skill set. As players get older, an increasing focus is given on identifying positions that mach a players skills and abilities to enable the player to receive specialized drills and teaching.

TEAMWORK:  RMBA stresses the importance of teamwork and build strong, lasting bonds among teammates: Royal’s win and lose as a team.
Teamwork remains a core fundamental for every successful team and is the baseline for all planning and preparation. We strive to teach teamwork in all elements of the game and stress that each player on the team and each position in the field have a role in achieving team success.

SPORTSMANSHIP AND RESPECT:  RMBA will enable one to build character, good sportsmanship, and teach respect for the game of baseball and to the coaches, teammates, opponents, officials and family.
Sportsmanship and respect are at the centre of all RMBA’s baseball related activities. The Royals program believes in playing the game of baseball with the right attitude and appreciation for the elements of the game. We believe in playing the game hard and aggressively while never compromising our principles for the sake of winning. Poor sportsmanship by players, coaches, or parents will not be tolerated. It is a privilege to wear the Riverside Royal uniform and compete at the highest level. Remember THE NAME ON THE FRONT OF THE JERSEY REPRESENTS WHO YOU PLAY FOR, THE NAME ON THE BACK. REPRESENTS WHO RAISED YOU. DO THEM BOTH JUSTICE.

LEADERSHIP AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:  Riverside Minor Baseball will develop athletes into leaders on their team and in their community.
Leadership is the ability to influence and motivate others to accomplish the mission and achieve their goals. We believe in instilling qualities in our players,  help’s them succeed not only on the ball field but in their community. We choose to lead by example and never allow the intensity of the game to diminish that standard. Building leadership traits in our players not only maximizes our success on the field, but in life, long after our playing days is over:
The above drive the culture of Riverside Minor Baseball. We realize that the word Culture is more than a buzz word. It is a purpose which is to drive the daily behaviours that align with the Mission and core values.

BASEBALL IS A VEHICLE THAT DOES NOT TEACH CHARACTER, BUT RATHER “REVEALS CHARACTER” THROGH ADVERSITY, HUMILITY, SACRIFICE, AND TEAM WORK.
Rings, trophie’s, too much parental interaction, overzealous coaches and for profit playing platforms often encourage a poor Character Developmental Environment. Responsibility, accountability, character, commitment, sacrifice and sense of team are often forgotten aspects. Let alone true playing fundamentals.
The Riverside Centre for Sport and Education is owned and the home of the Riverside Royals Baseball Club. It was purchased and enhanced to give the space and opportunity for coaches and players to strive for maximum development in a year round environment. It offers the most recent, and necessary equipment and tools to increase performance. The facility allows for training areas (hitting, pitching, fielding, throwing and running) in 11,000 square feet of space; classroom area for teaching and video study which includes a three camera Tri Star replay and slow motion equipment for replay of swing and throwing analysis to improve arm velocity and care and bat speed and ability to compare to other successful athletes; an onsite Strength, Conditioning and Nutritional Professional; a Large Baseball Library with books and videos obtained at a multitude of professional baseball clinics and Development Seminars including The Best Ever OBA clinics attended by our coaches. Instructional seminars are just some of the tools, materials and devices that are available to our coaches and players for use, study, development.
